What is the difference between a coach, a consultant and a psychotherapist?

A coach is a professional who can help you take your career, business, health, relationships etc. to the next level through precise strategies and tools. Their goal is to empower you with the focus, insights and accountability you need to achieve consistent results in the most important areas of your life.

A consultant is an experienced professional who provides expert knowledge in different fields. He or she works in an advisory capacity only and usually has a turn-key solution which you apply in your business/career/personal life/ health etc. with the promise of a certain result.

The main difference between a coach and a consultant is that the consultant gives you his/her solutions to overcome a challenge or to reach your goals, whereas a coach supports you in finding your own methods/solutions to overcome a challenge or the best strategies to reach your goals (without imposing his/her solutions).

A psychotherapist is someone who treats people using physiotherapy, which is the treatment of mental disorder by psychological rather than medical means.

The main difference between a coach and a psychotherapist is that the latter works with you on figuring out what experiences in your past that have determined current behaviors in order to change them, whereas the coach focuses on where you are right now and helps you get where you want to be (in the future). The tools each use are different.

You can work with a coach, a consultant and a psychotherapist at the same time if you want to, as their work is complementary.

How do I know if I need coaching or a different type of support?

Hopefully, the explanations given above have helped you better understand what coaching is.

Coaching doesn’t ‘fix’ anybody, it helps individuals who are already good-performers in their lives achieve even grater results in the areas that they want. It works with the mind and the emotions of the individual to align them in the direction of what they want to create in their lives.

If you feel like you need support in healing past wounds, deep emotional cleansing, understanding your past or if you are dealing with depression, anxiety, or other psychological disorders, my advice is to seek help from a psychotherapist or a different type of therapist.

What’s the difference between life coaching, transformational coaching, business/executive coaching?

The difference between life coaching and business coaching is this: a business coach approaches his/her work with the client from the perspective of getting the business straight so as to positively affect the life of the client. The life coach, on the other hand, approaches the same problem from the standpoint of getting the client straight so that the business will also prosper.

What does a coaching program involve?

At the beginning of the program the client decides upon the desired results (outcomes) that she wants at the end of the coaching program. During the program, we’ll constantly manage progress to make sure that things are going in the direction of the desired results. For every coaching conversation the client chooses a session goal which will help reach the bigger goal(s).

To experience the benefits of coaching and give yourself sufficient time for meaningful change, we work for 3 to 12 months depending on what your business goals and vision are.

Depending on what you opt for, we can have coaching conversations once a week or twice a month (for 60 minutes) but we can also do shorter or longer coaching sessions depending on your needs.

Are coaching sessions done in person or over the phone?

The coaching sessions take place online through Skype (or a similar tool) or by phone, so you can conveniently sign up from wherever you’re located. I’ll share my Skype ID with you prior to the meeting.

There’s also the possibility to do coaching sessions face-to-face in Barcelona, Spain.

Is the information that I share confidential?

I maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality with all client information: everything that you share during the coaching sessions as well as your personal information which complies with the International Coach Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics.

How long does a session last?

It depends. It can last from 15min to 1h30min depending on our agreement and what best suits your needs. We agree upon this before we start working together.

How much does it cost?

My fees for coaching depend on multiple aspects like: the length of the coaching commitment, the frequency of our coaching conversations, whether we’re meeting online or in person etc.

I offer coaching packages for 3 to 12 months; anything less is not enough to create lasting change. Your coaching package will be highly personalized to your specific goals and desires.

What are the accepted payment methods?

At the moment, I only accept bank transfers.

Sessions cancellation policy

We can reschedule a session if we need to as long as you let me know with at least 3 hours prior to the meeting. Otherwise, the meeting will be canceled and I will not be able to get you a refund.
